The Ultimate Faux-Fur Survival Guide
October 07, 2017
Certain stores have already starting stocking up on warm-weather clothes, but winter has only officially begun and there are still plenty of icy, "Look, I can see my breath!" days ahead before spring gets here. Time to bundle up with some cozy, chic, and animal-friendly faux fur. Here's how.
Coats: Don't hide your best going-out look under some sad black puffer coat! Rather than just covering you up, a long faux fur will actually enhance your look while it keeps you warm. Plus, faux fur is a lot easier to find at the end of the night when you are digging through a pile of coats in the booth at the back of the bar.
Stoles and Lapels: If you've got a great wool coat, but it's staring to bore you, try pinning a fur lapel or stole to the collar for an instant and dramatic change. Buy different furs for your different moods and change them out to match whatever look you're going for.
Jackets: Faux-fur jackets have more of a casual, rock-and-roll vibe than longer coats and really look better with jeans than dresses. Keep your outfit from getting too prim by pairing your jacket with boots, band tees, denim, faux leather, and chunky metallic jewelry. The more of a rock-and-roll edge you can give yourself, the better.
Hats: Your head gets cold too! Don't worry about messing up your hair. When your hat is this cute, you don't have to take it off just because you're inside. Just resist the urge to pair your faux fur hat with a faux fur jacket. One piece, even when it's something small like a hat, is enough for any outfit. You don't want to end up looking like Davy Crockett, do you?
Fur Scarves: There is something so cute and preppy about faux-fur scarves — the way they slip through that little slit on the side and lie perfectly flat against your chest. Maybe that's why they look so great with blazers and other crisply tailored jackets.
